Thomas A. Welch
Tom Welch practices general civil litigation in a variety of areas including contract and commercial litigation, personal injury, municipal and land use law, family law, landlord/tenant, and property/boundary dispute litigation. He has also served as a mediator in a variety of litigation matters in Maine and Texas.
Tom has extensive experience in the areas of municipal land use, zoning and telecommunications regulatory work in the development and permitting of wireless telecommunications facilities throughout Maine, representing wireless carriers and site development companies in the application, zoning and permitting process in more than 50 Maine communities.
Tom attended Bates College, and received his B.A. in Communications Summa Cum Laude from the University of Southern Maine. He earned his Juris Doctor from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1990. Prior to joining Bergen & Parkinson, Tom practiced as a litigator with a large Portland law firm where he gained experience in intellectual property law, criminal defense, family law, and land use and boundary litigation. In 1994, he received a diploma from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy at Temple University Law School. Tom has also worked as a newspaper editor and writer for the Portland Newspapers and the Washington Post.
Tom is licensed to practice in state and federal courts in Maine and Texas. He is an active member of the Maine State and York County Bar Associations, and the Texas Bar Association. He is a past member of the Maine Inns of Court, and served as a volunteer mediator in the Dallas County court system.
