Durward W. Parkinson

Durward Parkinson’s practice areas include: real estate and zoning, mediation, commercial litigation, municipal and land use law. Durward has represented real estate developers, neighborhood groups and municipalities in several high profile litigation matters. He is the editor of a training manual for governmental officials on land use regulations and has lectured extensively on this subject. Durward also provides training for municipal boards on their legal responsibilities. He has also served as a mediator and facilitator on legal and community issues. He has argued over 20 cases before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court including the widely published Wells Beach case.

Durward is a 1979 graduate of Brown University and a 1982 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law.

Durward is active in charitable and nonprofit organizations in Maine. He is a former trustee of Laudholm Trust and a former board member of River Tree Arts. He has served as Warden of St. David's Episcopal Church and on the Standing Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Maine. He is a member of the Board of Corporators of Kennebunk Savings Bank. Durward is a former President of the Kennebunk Free Library and Greater Portland Landmarks.

He is a member of the York County and Maine State Bar Associations.
